Sonic the Hedgehog

I have not reviewed any games in a while because many of the ones I have tried lately have not been that great. Admittedly, I am not a big gamer on mobile devices (or consoles for that matter), but a new release has caught my attention. Continue Reading

Google I/O – Where’s the dessert?

By Steve Birchfield | May 20 2013
Google-IO

Listening to the keynote for Google I/O last week, I found a few of the new features mentioned very interesting. Even more interesting might be what wasn’t mentioned. We did not get Key Lime Pie or Kettle Corn or any new operating system. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. I think the hardware manufacturers need some time to catch up and let’s face it, Jelly Bean is pretty good for now. Continue Reading

End Of The Line For Nexus?

By Troy Kng | May 20 2013

We are back after a brief spring break. As I mention briefly in the show, I’ve been spending lots of time trying to get Android to handle lyric display while using Ableton Live to fire off music during live performances. It is pretty interesting to see what music apps are out there for Android. I will be sure to share some of them in the near future.

Google Glass or Smartwatch? It’s not enough to have a smartphone in your pocket these days, but now we need to wear these smart devices. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of the smartwatch is tempting, but let’s take some time and see what the developers can do with them. It’s not good enough to just have the device, but e need fun and engaging software behind it. What are your thoughts on Glass or the Smartwatch? Send your comments to theandroidvibe@gmail.com

Clean Master

CleanMaster

If you like to install and uninstall apps as you test them, you will notice that they sometimes leave behind files and folders. Over time these files can take up your valuable storage space. Clean Master by KSMobile is a utility that cleans up files and cache on your device . It finds those lost remnants of applications left behind and removes them when the uninstaller doesn’t remove it. Android Protects NYPD Boys in Blue

As you might hear noted from time to time in this week’s show, I finally upgraded to the Nexus 4 by Google. It is the perfect companion piece to the Nexus 7, but I won’t give a full review yet until I have had more time to put the Nexus 4 through its paces. Needless to say, I do love the phone, and am quite excited about it. For me, it was definitely worth springing for the Nexus 4 and foregoing the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Pinterest, it is now safe for men

By Steve Birchfield | Apr 10 2013
Pinterest

Ok, I am going to admit something that I am a little ashamed of. I use Pinterest. Now before you come rip up my man card, hear me out! I signed up when it first came out after my wife told me how it was the greatest service on the web and she couldn’t wait for the Android app to be released. After 30 seconds of using it I realized it was the web’s equivalent of the chick flick. I’m not trying to be a chauvinist, but let’s face it, it was true in the early days. I had removed the app and given up on it since then.

My Purchases

By Steve Birchfield | Apr 04 2013
My Purchases

I have been using Android devices for a (relatively) long time. I have purchased apps over time that I have long since forgotten about. Some apps were needed to fix the shortcomings of Android in the old days, while others were just a deal too good to pass up. How do you find those apps that you purchased? The Google Play Store does not have an efficient way to search for the purchased apps you have. That is where My Purchases by Christian Arndt helps out.

Not only is Android hip, but fashionable, too! The Android Smartwatch could be a consumer-oriented device that lets us be ultra-cool without being too flashy like Google Glass. We’re not quite sure of all the features, but the Vibe will keep you posted!
